About us The Somali Students Association is a non-profit organization for all the students from Somalia. The SSA was established in 1998 and has continued to uphold the tradition of excellence ever since. Today the association is made up of more than three hundred members and is the largest organization at the MCTC campus. We have been awarded the best organization three times in the last three years and in the year 2003-2004, we surpassed all expectations by being awarded the best overall organization. Every year this tradition is not only uphold, but improved through new events and experiences. By hosting a diverse set of events both on and off campus, we promote our culture to anyone and everyone we are lucky enough to touch. Our Mission Our objectives are to promote service and leadership opportunities. Our aim is to help all Somali students with the educational and social issues that they may face as soon as they join at MCTC. The main objective of the SSA is to help the Somali students and deal with any legitimate issue they face or bring to the notice of the SSA. In addition to serving the common interests of Somali Students, SSA is very active in promoting Somali culture and tradition. We are also promoting unity among the Somali Students and the community as a whole. Our Non-Discrimination Policy The SSA will not show, indulge in, or allow any form of discrimination against the Somali students, any student or any person on or off the MCTC campus based on the nationality, region, tribe, gender, color, and religion. The SSA will strongly condemn and if necessary, hand the person over to the MCTC authorities, as we are bound by MCTC rules and regulations. Students from other communities may join the SSA as its guest members. The SSA will be able to understand and communicate with all Somali students better and we are always open and on the look out for new ideas and suggestions, so feel free to contact any of our executive committee members on how we can improve upon the organization's activities to better serve the members needs. | | |
